One of Joey's Silver salmon.
The "Dude Crew" with a "Fish Posse"
Captain Pat said we were the most gracious group he' had b/c we weren't fighting over the hits and b/c we thought it to be fair that Dave get's the remainder of hits until he lands one, unfortunately the hits stopped. After realizing we would probably ruin the meat we just caught he said he would vacum seal the meat at no charge and he took a bunch of meat and showed us how to cook it as well. Saying he thought we could use the education, but I believe he was hungry like the rest of us and wanted to eat! The salmon was outrageous! We all dug our dirty fingers into the plate of fish, ripping off pieces and hastily devouring the fish (the captain included!) I noted to the captain that is was the best fish I had ever tasted. It was absolutely true. We packed our fish, said our goodbyes to the Captain and went back to the cabin. I immediately cooked my rainbow...mmmm! Due to the fishing Adventure lasting a lot longer than anticipated we will not be able to make it to Homer. A real bummer. Later after relaxing for a while, everyone somewhat quiet, partly from tiredness and partly I suspect b/c we all knew this was our last night (last overnight anyway) in Alaska. Still feeling for Dave, he noted that not landing one is just a better excuse to come back. 9pm Dave and I went to fish the last couple of hours. Centennial Park, it was raining, two other guys were there, I wasn't expecting to catch one, but I couldn't resist one last time on the "Kenai". "Who knows I may never be back", I thought. We returned to the Cabin subdued knowing the end is upon us. 12am Dave suggests we go find a remote area and light off the fireworks (from the 1st day). Joey and I agree, but Blaze was content on staying asleep. After driving around for an hour (spotting 3 more moose), turns our Soldatna has no remote areas! We noted how Ironic it was that we spent all this time in the middle of nowhere, yet now when we really want it, we can't find it. We gave up and bought Ice Cream and watched "Into the Wild" again.
