Stopped at a couple spots along the highway (above). Caught a couple rainbows, spent about 20 mins, but no one really feeling this spot. Stopped again in Palmer where I thought we would camp for the night, but again no one was really interested in staying or fishing there. Dave said we should head all the way to Anchorage. As we get closer to "Civilization" (cars, light poles, accident, cops, radio stations etc.) Especially Radio stations, Joey's mood was uplifted, actually sing to a Melissa Ethridge song! and saying loudly, " Look how happy we all are!!", yet David was completley opposite, his mood diminished as we grew closer to town, becoming more and more depressed (actually noting it was depressing).
8/24/2009 Monday We ate dinner at the "Birch Tree Restaurant" our server was very friendly and she helped with directions to a Wal-Mart (a place we know we can park the RV for the night). We ended up at a Fed Meyers, I packed some of my stuff and began reading about fishing spots near the cabin. The guys watched "Role Models" Blaze was up first, I slept in b/c what's there to explore in a parking lot? Also packed most of my stuff the night before. We (Joey and I) picked up the rental (a new suburban) while Dave and Blaze went to a dumpstation before dropping off the RV. Apparently the hose broke while Blaze was in the process of dumping and poop went everywhere! Even getting on his shoes. To say the least he was not happy. I can't blame him for punching the RV. Besides no hot water, smells unlike any other, dumpstations, swaying and rattling constantly, the RV was real good to us. 1600 miles...an experience of a lifetime that I will tell stories of for years too come. Next up Seward Highway for a few hours to the Chalet. Joey is now behind the wheel. Hot Shower! Couches! Hot Tub! Can't wait!! * Dave did great with the RV overall 1600 miles and 1400 was Dave driving. I think he really enjoyed it though.
