Blaze broke his rod in half! and visibly frustrated with the lack of fish. Charter! Charter! Charter!
(above funny river and kenai confluence) * No bears..chances becoming more unlikely now especially b/c I don't believe we will have time to fish the Russian river (next time, it's the first place I go to). 10pm waiting for the guys to return to the truck after fishing the Funny river. I went off on my own because the spot we went to was not fishable with a fly rod (as Blaze is using my spinning rod). I first went up river, but no fish, then to the Kenai, I witnessed Dave land a fish, everyone yeah baby'ing and High 5'ing. Blaze too landed a fish over there, his mood considerably uplifted. Turns out the fish they caught were "Dolly Varden" 11pm quote from book "Cheating Death" "As beautiful as nature is, one has to always respect it, it seldom gives a second chance." -James Marchin
8/26/2009 4:30pm Good thing I set my alarm too because Joey's didn't go off! Up at 4am, meeting Captain Pat at 4:30am. "Captain Pat" a big man wearing fishing rubbers you could tell were well worn. After we launched the boat we went downriver to a spot calle "R-Dubbs" or the "Honey Hole", Pat said we were lucky to be the first there.(above) We were fishing with plug lure with chunks of sardines wrapped around them. Pat explaining that not all plugs are equal, only 1 in 20 being a good plug. He then told us a story of a guide who had a $450 rod and reel setup that he lost and told everyone that if the fished it out they could keep the rod, "I just want my plug back".
