- Dinner at (can't remember). I had Moose Drool beer. It was delicious. By the time we left the restaurant it was after 10 p.m. the plan now was to head back 60 miles or so south, b/c it was clear and Dave wanted to see Mt. McKinley (me too). - 60 miles later just as we were trying to figure out where to camp for the night, (having been able to see Mt. McKinley even at night). Around a corner we came across a lady on the opposite side of the road with her flashers on and waving her cell phone. (Green Honda CRV) "I'm just a city girl trying to get to fairbanks" she said Dave: "What's wrong?" Lady: "We ran out of gas" O.K. so we tried numerous attempts to siphon the gas (not we, Blaze tried and almost got sick for it). Other attempts were to no avail. I suggested after 1/2 hour or so, we did not have a choice, but to drive up to the gas station, buy a gas can and come back. we all agreed. So the four of us and the four of them (Lady, two girls and a guy) packed into the R.V. for a road trip. We swapped some stories, they were very nice people, but why didn't they fill up the tank b/4 their trip?? The first staion in cantwell was closed.
...but the Chevron we knew would be open. We pulled up to the "glorious" Chevron. Lit signs..Yeah!! One small problem...pumps on, store closed. No gas can! After we scrounge around eventually accumulating a Gallon milk container (thanks to Dave), A gallon juice jug (thanks to guy digging through garbage), and two Gatorade bottles (thanks to blaze).
